For those searching for the modern metal djenty tone, the Ibanez TS-808 Tube Screamer is best used with the overdrive on 0 so all gain comes from the amp. The pedal is great and the reviews speak for themselves, but Keeley is a god – he can bring things out of pedals you didn’t know existed.
So much middle and the bass is as tight as it gets, it’s a stand alone pedal and the most interesting things happen in the lower registers, the sort of thing you wouldn’t notice until you start to use complicated right hand patterns in drop tunings. When paired with a decent quality tube amplifier this thing barks and makes note definition look easy, believe me, not many pedals come close.
