Suhr Koko Boost - Pedal of the Day

Suhr Koko Boost

The Suhr Koko Boost is a unique boost pedal that serves basically 3 purposes. First is a clean boost which can be toggled on and off with the switch on the left side. I have used a several different OD/clean boost and this one is by far the most transparent one I’ve ever heard. Works really well with an amp that is crunching up just a bit to drive it to further overdrive. Sounds just like turning up a gain knob. I could hear a touch of bottom end enhancement as I turn the boost past 1 O’clock, though it was a pleasant to ears.

The second feature is the mid boost which I think this pedal shines the most. With the selectable frequency toggle switch in the middle, you can squeeze the certain midrange to your liking in order to send your lead sitting nicely on top of other instruments. Some of the extreme settings can sound too excessive on its own but when dropped in the band, it is perfect.

The third feature is what you can’t see obviously: a buffer. The buffer makes sure that my guitar signal reaches the amp healthily. A killer pedal overall!

Users: Guthrie Govan, Pete Thorn, Mark Day, Andy Wood

  2. I played this at a local Guitar Center.. Mid boost really kills. Maybe my ears are not as sensitive as yours but I didn’t notice bottom end enhancement though. Good review.
