Blue Dinosaur Electronics Coffee Grinder Fuzz - Pedal of the Day

Blue Dinosaur Electronics Coffee Grinder Fuzz

The Coffee Grinder Fuzz from Blue Dinosaur Electronics is a distant relative of the ancient and mysterious Interfax Harmonic Percolator, especially when both the Gain and Hi-Fi knobs are pushed to the max (although this is in no way a clone of that pedal). This is a fuzz like no other. With the Gain knob up full blast, the Coffee Grinder emits a warm, smooth, bold fuzz that’s not tinny or harsh on your ear holes. Use the Hi-Fi knob to control the Tone AND the Dynamics of the sound: a bit mellower when turned to the left, a bit crunchier and bright when turned to the right. The Hi-Fi Knob is a creative way to add (or subtract) highs and lows into your signal, and allows for a variety of different fuzz noises to become apparent as you adjust its level. There’s an added bonus in the Bass Cut/Flat switch, which allows you to cut out some of the low frequencies if you wish, or leave them in for a lower, full-bodied tone.

You can get some nice overdriven tones from the Coffee Grinder by turning the knobs down a bit, but this pedal really shines when cranked, for a unique and powerful full-on fuzz sound. It also allows for very specific tone-shaping, just the thing you need to dial in the your own flavors. Big thanks go out to Andy from Blue Dinosaur, first for being a pedal contributor, and second for being one of the nicest guys I’ve had the pleasure of communicating with. Stand up guy running a quality company – make sure you go check out his store on Reverb.com now!
