Bondi Effects Sick As Overdrive Look what we’ve got for you today! It’s the Sick As Overdrive from our friends at Bondi Effects. The Sick As is a transparent overdrive (supposedly based around the famous Klon), and a really well made and great-sounding one at that. The Level knob does, well, you know what Level knob does, I hope. One feature I love about the Sick As is that it has Treble AND Bass EQ knobs, and on this pedal (as opposed to a number of others I’ve played), the Bass knob actually DOES SOMETHING. Dark, deep, muddy tones come out when they’re both turned down; slowly turn them up one at a time or simultaneously until you reach your desired tone. Then, using the Gain knob, dial in exactly how much drive you want coming through. It’s not a new invention, by any means, but it does what it should marvelously. Turn the Gain all the way to the left, and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous clean boost. Turn it all the way to the right, and drive that amp to the edge (a warm, smooth, tasteful edge, of course).

As an added bonus, there’s a HI/LO toggle switch for you to play with. When it’s UP, the sound is a little more compressed and a bit louder. When it’s DOWN, the transparency of the pedal shines, resulting in a natural-sounding drive that will kick your tubes into gear. This is a fantastic pedal, housed inside a beautiful teal blue/green solid enclosure, and sporting a nice, bright white LED. As far as I know, this is Bondi Effects‘ only pedal so far, as they are a relatively new company. If their future is going to produce more pedals like this one, I’m glad I discovered this company early on!
