dr. j pedals aerolite compressorThe Aerolite Compressor from Dr. J Pedals in Scandinavia is a unique pedal in a sea of compressors, as it has a couple of variables that enable it to sing a different tune than most. The COMP knob obviously controls the amount of compression you are applying to your signal, and the OUTPUT controls the volume boost coming from the pedal itself. The ATTACK knob, another compressor staple, adjusts the dynamics and reacts to your playing, depending on how hard or soft you’re picking the strings. Here’s where this little guy gets fun…

A MIX knob controls the amount of Wet/Dry signal coming out to your amp, which should be a necessity on ALL compressors. It allows for such fine control of your compressed sound that there’s no way you wouldn’t be able to dial it in to perfectly fit your needs. On top of that, if you turn it all the way down, you can use the Aerolite as an awesome clean boost – it’s like 2 pedals in one! And to top it all off, there’s an INPUT switch as well, which varies your input signal to the pedal in 3 degrees: High, Mid and Low, so you can further customize your tone (I like the Mid setting myself).

Compressors come in all different shapes, sizes and prices, as well as different functions, abilities and tones. The Aerolite from Dr. J is just about the best compressor on the market in its price range, and one of the best I’ve played through period. A great, transparent compressor with tons of sustain and lots of flexibility, don’t sleep on this sweet pedal from Dr. J Pedals.
