Look on any pro player’s pedalboard and you will find a little orange one-knob wonder. The Phase 90 is a timeless pedal. The swirly goodness has reached to every genre and to probably every electric instrument ever played (not to mention to studio use on drums and vocals!).

Now, in researching this pedal you will find there are two versions: the older “script” model, which offers warmer phase shifting, and the “block” logo model, which offers deeper phasing and a more radiant sound.

Which to buy? What to do?

Enter the EVH Phase 90.

The EVH Phase 90 is Eddie Van Halen’s version of the pedal. It gives you both script and block modes so you don’t have to choose. You can have both. With the added “Frankenstein” graphics, MXR has made the choice pretty simple.

Script Mode gives you all the Phase 90 sound you long for: warm swooshing phase that sits beautifully before or after your overdrives. Keep the knob low and you will be hard-pressed to keep from doing your best “Us & Them” impression.

Normal mode is the dynamic phase the Eddie Van Halen fans are looking for. Deep phase for that “Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love” riff you have been dying to dust off since you bought the darn thing.

All joking aside, this is really the ultimate phaser pedal. Both modes in one small footprint, and eye-grabbing design to stand out from the rest. How you use it is up to you. Put it in anywhere in your chain. You will love it.
