SynapticGroove Snapperhead Overdrive - Pedal of the Day

SynapticGroove Snapperhead Overdrive

I was intrigued by the label of the Snapperhead, I’ve gotta tell you. The weird little monster with big eyes and British teeth really peaked my interest, and I knew I had to take this pedal for a ride. Not to mention I had heard about it via articles from Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses) and Nick Perri (who is an incredible guitar player if you haven’t checked him out yet!), who were a couple of great endorsers, so I knew it was going to be something special.

I love pedals with lots of bells and whistles: this is not one of those, and I love it anyway! The Snapperhead‘s simple, 2-knob design is almost a breath of fresh air, with so many pedals these days coming at you with a million different options and toggles and knobs…it’s turning into chaos, I tell you! SynapticGroove has taken a nice, small metal enclosure, filled it with beautiful components, put a Level and a Drive knob on top and called it a day. Aaaahhhhhhh….it’s like a breeze of freshness swooshing through your pedalboard. Plus, when you turn it on, it will absolutely kick your ass. There’s no other way to put it, this pedal is a beast! With the ability to go from a boost to an overdrive to a distortion with the slightest turn of the Drive knob, you will have to really sit down with this guy to figure out how you’re going to utilize it on your board. It’s the simplest multi-effect you will ever use, producing huge range and tonal opportunities to drive your guitar signal into the stratosphere. I can’t say enough about the warmth and un-colorization this pedal provides, allowing for dirty but not messy tones, which can sometimes be difficult to achieve.

What a great little pedal, a beast in a tiny metal box – can’t see this one going away from the board anytime soon. Big thanks go out to Benjamin and the whole team from SynapticGroove for being so generous with their pedal donation, and for being a standup company in general. Anyone who has tried this pedal, or has heard it, or heard about it, or looked at someone once who they thought might have had one in their back pocket, is super-excited for the future of this company, and we all can’t wait to see what’s next. Make sure you go check ’em out and show your support!
