Strymon Brigadier dBucket Delay

It seems as though Strymon has become an absolutely dominating force amongst guitarists and their pedalboards as of late, and there’s a reason. Besides making space-age looking, beautiful, intelligent pedals, they have created some of the coolest sounds you could want coming through your amp, and the Brigadier dBucket Delay is a prime example of their craftsmanship and skill.

As soon as you plug this guy in, you can feel it’s going to be a special effect. I love the Mix knob on just about any pedal, and it works extremely well here, too, letting you blend the Wet and Dry signals as you see fit. The Short, Medium and Long delay modes provide a TON of time to play around with, ranging from 40ms all the way up to 5 full seconds. That’s a lot of delay time right there! No way you’d ever need more, I wouldn’t think…but who knows? You can do everything with these 3 modes, from awesome slap back and sci-fi to long, drawn-out spacey jam delays, all with a great analog sound. The Tap switch provides more fun and choices, as you can select from Quarter Notes, Dotted Eighth Notes and Eighth Note Triplets.

The Bucket Loss knob adds noise into your delayed signal, so you can essentially choose between and old school-sounding delay, with some hiss and boost, or a more modern, quieter tone that is a bit cleaner and straightforward. This knob has 2 uses as well: if you hold down the Tap and Bypass switches simultaneously and turn the Bucket Loss knob, you can adjust the Filter function, making the repeats either darker or brighter. The Mod knob is a great addition to any delay, and the Brigadier is no exception. Controlling the amount of LFO Modulation, this knob will make your signal fly into uncharted delay territory, creating some great warble and tape echo-type noises, adding yet another layer of depth to your sound.

The Brigadier also features an Expression pedal input, allowing you to control any knob you choose with your foot, which is always welcome. Plus, you can run your signal in Stereo Out into a multiple amp setup, which is really fun as well. So many options and incredible sonic sounds make up the awesome Brigadier from Strymon – if you’re one of the 3 guitarists left that haven’t checked out their gear, do yourself a favor and do it now!
