Will Sledge FX Last Adam LM308 Distortion

The Last Adam LM308 Distortion pedal is a vintage RAT clone with an added Feedback Loop…but it’s also so much more. Will over at Will Sledge FX made this one pedal, the only one of it’s kind, and now I am the proud owner of the LONE VERSION of this incredible stompbox, which I’m pretty excited about. Anyone who bothers to sit down and actually read the reviews I do knows that I love a good crazy, off-the-wall pedal the most, even taking a classic pedal and cloning it is just fine, but especially when there’s something inventive and creative added on. In this particular case, it’s a Feedback Loop, which adds a whole new sonic dimension to this already rad RAT.

Volume, Distortion and Filter are the 3 control knobs on the Last Adam, similar to the RAT itself, which makes sense since it’s a RAT clone (funny, right?). Those controls do what they say they do, very well, too, I might add. The true bypass, hand-wiring and overall look and feel of Will’s pedals really show the time and effort he puts into each one, and this distortion is no different. There’s a toggle switch, too, that turns off and on the Ruetz Mod, which lifts an internal resistor and reduces the signal a bit, which in turn gives the pedal a warm, more overdriven-type sound.

Which brings us to this awesome Feedback Loop mode. Basically, from what I understand, when this switch is engaged, it sends the pedal’s signal back into itself, creating a wall of sonic texture that will melt your face and still leave you wanting more. The knob on the far left controls the amount of looped signal that is blended in with the regular fuzz, allowing you to pick and choose how much oscillation and mayhem you want present in your pedal, and if you want none, you just click and it’s gone. Very versatile to have such options, and would be exceptional in a live setting. You could basically just freak everyone out with a thick, dirty sound wall and feed it back over and over until the crowd’s brains were about to explode, then turn it off just to mess with ’em…interesting…

The pedals you get from Will Sledge FX are not pretty, they’re not tame, they’re not something you want to take home to your girlfriend’s house to meet her parents. They are dirty, nasty, filthy, disgusting, awesome balls of joy wrapped into the coolest relic-y, grunge-y, scratch-y enclosure you’re likely to come across this year. Which is exactly what makes them so unique and so cool. Be sure to check out our review of the Slim Drive as well, in case you haven’t already read it 2 or 3 times. Keep an eye out for more reviews of Will’s pedals coming up soon, but for now, go check out his site and listen to all he has to offer…you won’t be disappointed!
