Taurus Pedals Acid Reflux Delay

Here at Pedal of the Day, we’ve reviewed a couple of pedals from our friends over at Taurus Pedals, and they were some heavy-hitting monsters! The 90 LB Hamster Distortion and the Pi Fuzz were beasts, forces to be reckoned with (in the best of ways, mind you), so it’s quite a welcome shift that they have decided to delve into the world of delay, and have sent us their first offering to check out: the Acid Reflux Delay.

Three simple controls are found on the Acid Reflux: Mix, Feedback and Delay. The Mix is always a popular control, especially with delay, as you want to have control over how affected your original tone will be, especially once you get into self-oscillation and super-feedback, but that’s another story. The Feedback knob here controls the number of the repeats, and Delay rounds it out by adjusting how long the delay signal will be. Pretty basic controls, but much-needed in any delay setting, and they make it work well here with the Acid Reflux.

Starting with the Delay and Feedback knobs rolled back a bit, this pedal gives off a very cool, retro, surf-rock style sound, a chime-y but bold reverb-type sound, great for country chicken-pickin’ and lead runs. Crank up the controls a bit, and the Acid Reflux starts to come into its own, big time. The delays are warm and rich, and the trails filter off nicely into the unknown. When the Delay and Feedback You can get some great ambient swells here, too, by turning up the delay and using your guitar’s volume knob, or any number of volume pedals on the market, to fade in your delayed signal and making some wonderful new sounds come pouring out of your amp.

The Acid Reflux Delay is a powerful and very analog-ish delay, with warm tones and gorgeous echoes around every turn. All wrapped up in a nice, small package, with some killer graphics to boot, this delay will be able to find room on any pedalboard and compete with any other delay as well. Thanks, as always, to Russ and the gang at Taurus Pedals for letting us be your test dummies once again – keep up the good work, we all can’t wait to see what your future has in store for us!
