center street electronics stellarverb v2 reverbThe previous pedals we’ve reviewed from our friends over at Center Street Electronics have been some of the most innovative and fun pedals we have ever delved into, and they all had a common theme: heavy. Fuzz, Drive and Distortion was the name of the game with those other pedals, so the new and improved StellarVerb was an interesting transition, and a nice and inspiring one at the same time.

The new version of this classic reverb pedal is a bit bigger, a little bolder and sports more options and controls to really make it a useful board-ready pedal. Like the first incarnation of the StellarVerb, this new V2 features the simple yet powerful Tone and Reverb controls, a fairly common staple on many verbs around the world. There are some new controls as well, though, which only add to the luster and sheen of this shiny, sparkly reverb. Decay starts us off by controlling the amount of trails that follow your initial reverberated sound, from a one-repeat burst to a long, extended echo sound, mixing with the other knobs’ settings to produce some wild reverb.

Warble is another rad feature, that adjusts the amount of oscillation in the reverbed tone. This is a nice, subtle control, which doesn’t send your echoes into the stratosphere, but rather adds small changes to the effect. A small toggle labeled Filter changes the tonal character of the reverb ever-so-slighty, but enough to be pleasantly noticeable. Rounding out the controls, Dry adds in or takes out your guitar’s original signal, making it completely blendable in whichever fashion you choose.

As you can hear in the video, the reverb sound thrown out by the StellarVerb are lush, organic and sweeping, adding multiple layers and dimensions to your instrument’s tone. The guys at Center Street Electronics continue to make some fine, hand-built and well-crafted pedals, and I for one hope they continue to delve into other genres of pedals, like this reverb, as they seek to expand and advance their lineup. Looking forward to what comes next, go check out their website for more info and more pedals!
