And we’re off with the first installment of “Fly Boys Week” here at Pedal of the Day! For the next 5 days, we’ll be taking a look at the Fly Boys series of pedals from Totally Wycked Audio, and seeing how these mini pedals can help to shape your tone while saving lots of space, too. The first pedal in this series has big sound for a small pedal: the FB-01 Distortion.

While the controls are not vast by any means here on the FB-01, the tones that it produces will shock and awe you, and make you re-think your current overdrive setup. Based around the sounds of a classic rock amp, the Marshall JCM800, this pint-sized powerhouse produces loads of sustain and crunch, with excellent picking dynamic response, as well as warm, smooth overdrive tones. Featuring mini Tone and Level knobs, as well as a bigger Gain knob that can be easily manipulated with your foot, the FB-01 Distortion has all the controls you’ll need to send your rig into tube amp heaven, or push your existing tube amp into beautiful breakup territory.

The entire line of Fly Boys pedals are encased in sturdy but lightweight aluminum enclosure, making sure they can withstand any punishment thrown at them. Plus, with their small size, traveling to gigs and saving pedalboard space are certainly guaranteed. Thanks to Kevin and Godlyke for sending us this lineup of pedals for this exciting and Totally Wycked review week here – come back tomorrow and see what the next pedal is going to be!
