Today happens to be one of the latter days, and the pedal happens to be from an innovative amplifier and pedal building genius, Andy Fuchs, and Fuchs Audio Technology. Oh yeah, the pedal is the Noxious Distortion.

Right away, you’ll notice there is a FULL EQ section, which is always welcome, especially in a high-gain pedal like this. The ability to control the Highs, Lows AND Mids is key for this type of distortion, allowing you to match tones with your amp’s EQ section, and working them both together to form the purest and most useable sounds possible. Each of these 3 controls has a great amount of range, too, making it that much easier to really dial in the Noxious to your specific specs.

As far as the other two control knobs, Output and Gain, are concerned, you will never be at a loss for drive or power. The Output acts as a Master Volume, and has absolutely NO PROBLEM cutting through any mix, drummer or eardrums that try to challenge it. The Gain control has a vast range as well, letting your sound go from a warm, mild overdrive all the way up to a screeching, ear-bleeding, wall-of-noise distortion, and when mixed with that wonderful EQ section, the sonic possibilities really open up and come blasting out out your amplifier with a vengeance.

Originally designed for Nick Catanese (from Black Label Society & Speed X), the Noxious features a low noise input circuit based on Fuchs’ Pure Gain® pedal, allowing a vast range of tones to shine through. If you like your amp to scream, begging for you to stop playing through it, even though you can tell it really loves what’s happening, you need to check out the Noxious Distortion. Nothing short of a heavy metal powerhouse, it’s still clean and crisp even at high-gain levels, and will add just a bit of grunge and crunch when turned down as well. Thanks so much to Andy and the crew at Fuchs Audio Technology for letting us rip into this monster, and letting it rip into us as well!
