Amptweaker TightFuzz DistortionDesign and individuality are keys in today’s oversaturated guitar pedal market, and the folks at Amptweaker have certainly utilized both of those concepts, crafting unique and innovative pedals around every turn. Today’s pedal is just another in their lineup of great-sounding and option-packed pedals, and can add so much depth and dimension to your tone, you’ll be blown away by the TightFuzz Distortion.

As with other Amptweaker pedals I’ve encountered, the TightFuzz is a little bit daunting at first glance, but once you plug in and crank her up, all your worries will fly right out the window. Four main controls are prominently featured right at the top: Volume, Tone, Fuzz and Tight. Volume controls the overall output volume, while Tone helps to shape the overall sound as well. Fuzz puts more gain in or takes some gain out of your signal, depending which way you twist it, and Tight is a feature of Amptweaker pedals that varies your pick attack, going from smooth to aggressive with ease.

A couple of small switches are present here, which also help shape the tones pouring out of the TightFuzz. A Tone switch lets’ you select from classic 60’s chunky tones to heavier, chunkier, deeper sounds of the 70’s, which can really open up the sonic possibilities here. A Germanium/Silicon toggle switches between a soft fuzz stage to a heavier one, working in conjunction with the first switch to create a multitude of options and sounds. Finally, the Edge switch lets you smooth out the high-end with one small flick.

Another great feature of this Amptweaker pedal is the addition of an effects loop in the back, letting you add in chorus or delay or whatever you want, enabling you to further experiment and tweak your fuzzy, distorted tone. There’s also an optional Gain Boost Mod available, and you can run the pedal at 9 or 18V, bringing plenty of headroom and power to the TightFuzz. As with the other Amptweaker gear, this silver surfer of a pedal contains a bunch of options and incredible sounds, and has a great design layout and unique enclosure as well. Be sure to check out their site for more awesome pedals, they’ve got a lineup that will rock your face!
