infanem small echo arrayThe folks at Infanem just keep bringing it, man, and today’s pedal is one of their best yet. Most of their pedals we’re had the privilege to review have tended to be on the heavier side – distortions, fuzzes, etc., but this one is a complete flip of those pedals, and an awesome delay in it’s own right. The Small Echo Array has a bunch of features that make it stand out from the delay pedal pack, but no so complex that you can’t get a simple, straightforward echo tone if you’d like.

Let’s start with the best part first, shall we? The Small Echo Array features FOUR separate delay sources, that each have their own time frame and can be individually selected as well. Delay times are as follows: 1: 30ms to 575ms; 2: 60ms to 1150ms; 3: 90ms to 1725ms and 4: 120ms to 2300ms. That’s right, the 2.3 full seconds of delay should provide you with all the range you’ll need, and the fact that these sources can be mixed and matched really opens up the floodgates as far as sonic experimentation is concerned.

The rest of the controls are fairly basic, but play an important role in the Small Echo Array’s overall sound production. Echo Time controls the delay times for each source, and Feedback adjusts how much of the echo is fed back into the start of the signal, ranging from zero feedback to full-on self-oscillation. Finally, Clean Volume and Echo Volume adjust the dry and wet signals, respectively, letting you really fine tune how this puppy is going to perform.

With these four delay sources, the possibilities are endless, and part of what makes pedals like this one so fun is that the experimentation doesn’t really ever end. Sure, you can get a setting that you like and stick with it for a while, but you’ll always want to come back and start flipping switches and turning knobs. As always, we’re on the edge of our seats with anticipation to see what Infanem (Instruments for a New Electric Music) come out with next, so stay tuned for more reviews of their gear in the near future!
