We’ve played almost all of the pedals that have been released by Spaceman Effects, and each one has been a real revelation to the pedal world, containing powerful, unique and rare tones found only hidden inside these precious few stomp boxes. Their latest release is another one-of-a-kind, as it offers true analog spring reverb in the form of a pedal! We’d like to proudly announce a wonderful addition to the Spaceman lineup, the Orion Analog Spring Reverb.

If you look at the Orion for just a second, it appears that the controls are really simple. As you look deeper and harder at it, you’ll find that statement to be true. The Volume knob adjusts the overall output volume of the pedal, while Blend lets you, you know, blend your wet and dry signals together, and adjust to taste. Tone will bring out the lower register frequencies a bit more when turned to the left, and add in some more treble-ish tones when cranked to the right. Finally, the Dwell knob decides how hard you’re pushing the springs inside, and essentially controlling the “reverb” section of the Orion.

These might seem like a small number of controls for such a big and expensive pedal, but the range that each one boasts is truly impressive, and allows you to discover a ton of tones you might not have thought possible upon first glance. Not to mention the main attraction of this beauty: the sound. Big, fat, cascading, lush reverb tones are emitted at every turn, providing a giant wall of sound to cover anyone and anything in its path, with classic, vintage-type tones that we’ve all heard on our favorite records for decades. The all-analog path gives off an uncommon warmth, riddled with soulful tonal nuances and easily recognizable spring sounds that will put an immediate smile on your face, and leave it there for all to see.

Hand-built in Portland with the utmost attention to detail, as all of their pedals are, the Orion has truly set a new mark on the reverb race, one that other companies are going to have a tricky time topping or replicating anytime soon. A great addition to any pedalboard, the Orion is true bypass and runs on standard 9v power, making it a cinch to interact with your PP2, Phoenix or whatever power supply you’re using at the moment. Like I said before, we love the gear coming from Spaceman Effects, and can’t wait to see what they dazzle us with next – cheers, guys!
