Visual Sound Dual Tap Delay

2-In-1 pedals are always fun, but more often than not, they come in the form of overdrives. Don’t get me wrong, I love dual overdrives, but a Dual Delay pedal? Now that’s something else all together. The Dual Tap Delay, made by the now-defunct Visual Sound (actually, they’re a new company called Truetone), is one of these rare delay breeds, and one that is a hell of a lot of fun to figure out.

Each of the 2 separate delays feature the same control section, but Delay 2 also has a Modulation control, which adds in some lush chorus to the delayed effect. Time Div lets you select between 4 different time subdivisions (quarter, dotted eighth, eighth, triplet), and will create alternating and intriguing delay effects when varied on each channel. Manual Delay Time works with the Manual/Tap switch on each channel as well, allowing you to adjust the delay times for each channel using the knob, or flipping the switch and using the Tap Tempo button down below (love this feature).

Repeats adjusts the number of times the delay repeats on each channel, and Effect Level blends said channels individually with your guitar’s dry signal, allowing different mixes of differing delay times to be mixed into your overall signal with ease. On top of all this, each the two channels also boast their own tone knobs, going from a dark and low-end delay to a bright, crisp digital delay, with a whole lot of stopping points in between.

There’s also the option to run the Dual Tap Delay in stereo, as there are 2 separate Outs on the back panel, along with an external Tap Tempo jack, enabling easy on-the-fly tempo tapping if your pedal happens to be stuck in the way back row of your pedalboard. Add in the aforementioned Modulation aspect on Delay 2, and you have got one versatile delay machine. Plus, there are two internal switches for even more manipulation. One switch controls whether Output 2 is dry or delayed, while the other switch sets repeats to be either trailing or non-trailing for Channel 2 after the pedal has been bypassed.

No longer in production, this Dual Tap Delay will be a sought-after item in years to come, we predict. With just the right mix of usefulness and experimental unpredictability, it will force you to question everything you thought you knew about your pedalboard (and take up most of it’s space as well, this thing is BIG!). If you come across one, pick it up and check it out – you’re not going to come away disappointed.
