Aguilar Octamizer Analog OctaveAlthough they reside in different categories, guitar and bass pedals can be fun to interchange instruments with, as is the case of today’s featured pedal. The Octamizer Analog Octave from Aguilar Amplification is specifically geared towards the lower frequency register, but it sounds wicked rad on guitar as well. Let’s see what this sweet bright red can do, shall we?

Right away, the first two controls you see are essential to the productiveness of the Octamizer. There’s an Octave Level and a Clean Level control knob, letting you dial in just the right amount of both your instrument’s original signal and the octave effect produced by the pedal. These are key controls that you like to see on any pedal, especially one as specific as an octave.

The next two controls shape the sound of the pedal overall. The Octave Filter is a multi-pole, low-pass filter that lets you shape the octave sound from smooth and deep to edgy and aggressive. In contrast, the Clean Tone control is basically an EQ, but a special one for sure. Utilizing a special circuit, this equalization process boosts the lows as it cuts the highs, and vice versa, for tones ranging from simple doubling to cool and unusual synth-type sounds.

The Octamizer Analog Octave has big range, big sound and bold flavors for your ears, and I loved how well it sounded when paired with a guitar. The notes are clean, but really beef up what’s coming out of the amp, making for a different approach to playing that was certainly welcome. Check out the video below to see what some of these sounds are, and check out Aguilar Amplification‘s website for all your bass and guitar pedal needs.
