SFG Music Supply Back Burner Vintage Delay

Some delay pedals have such a broad range of sounds that it can be hard to focus in on what you really need the delay to do. That is definitely not the case with today’s featured pedal, the Back Burner Vintage Delay from SFG Music Supply. This delay is focused solely on the famed “slapback” sound that started with country and rockabilly, and continues to have uses throughout numerous musical genres today. Short and sweet, this delay will get those sounds down in an instant.

The Back Burner only has 2 controls, making it a cinch to operate, and easy to find useable tones in about 2 minutes as well. The Rate knob acts as a delay time control, and although the top delay times here are relatively short, there’s a decent amount of range in this knob. Couple it with the Decay knob, and you’ve got a simple control section that’s easy to maneuver and dial in. Classic ’50s sounds, chicken pickin’ country licks and more come pouring out as you twist and turn these knobs, revealing a subtle but tasty addition to practically any style of music.

Utilizing a PT2399 integrated circuit chip set up to deliver a short maximum length of repeats, the Back Burner is one of those set-it-and-forget-it pedals, one that you know EXACTLY what applications it will flourish in, and when to use it tastefully as well. Thanks again to Neil and the gang at SDG Music Supply up in British Columbia for shipping this little rockin’ pedal down for us to investigate (love the graphics on these pedals, too, check our review of the Howlerr Classic Overdrive, too) – stay tuned for a review of their 3rd pedal, the Privateer, coming soon, and head over to their Reverb shop to pick up some of their great gear!
