emerson custom paramount overdriveOne of the first “transparent” overdrives we reviewed here at Pedal of the Day was the EM Drive from Emerson Custom, and that awesome pedal is still spotted on a TON of pedalboards. Stepping up their game a little bit, and getting into a bit dirtier territory, the crew at Emerson designed a completely original circuit, and turned it into a pedal that is great as a mid-gain or second stage overdrive. Here is the Paramount Overdrive, check it out.

Volume, Gain and Tone make the basic overdrive controls on the Paramount, and they all do exactly what you hope they would. The wide tone range and excellent gain sweep let you decide how much drive you want mixed into your signal, and since it’s a Stage 2 pedal, you can get anything from boost to crunch to grit and more. Plus, the Paramount can run at both 9v and 18v, if you want an extra little bit of headroom and power. Super dynamic as well, this sweet overdrive sounds exactly like your playing, picking up all the little nuances and varying picking styles that each player brings to the table.

Like all Emerson Custom products, the Paramount is made from only the highest-quality, hand-pickled and matched parts, by hand, in the heart of Oklahoma. Easy to pair with any other drives you could think of, the Paramount is a welcome addition to any board, and will add a perfect amount of gusto and grit to your clean signal…but only if you want it to. Be sure to stop by the Emerson Custom website for more pedals, prewired guitar kits, capacitors and more!
