earthquaker devices organizer polyphonic organ emulatorOctave/organ-type pedals have been flooding pedalboards in recent times, and for good reason. They bring an air of mystery and add a whole new dimension to an otherwise-normal guitar sound. One of the most intriguing of these pedals that we’ve come across is made by, you guessed it, EarthQuaker Devices, and it’s the featured pedal today: the Organizer Polyphonic Organ Emulator.

The Up and Down knobs control the octave up and octave down portions of the Organizer’s sound. The Choir knob takes the signals from those two controls, mixes them and regenerates them, providing an additional 2 octaves Up and 2 octaves Down, with a bit of delay as well for a truly organ-type sound. The Direct knob controls your dry signal’s level, while Tone tames the high-end frequencies as you dial it back. Finally, the Lag knob acts as a delay control, beginning with a slight delay and increasing as you turn it clockwise.

As far as the sounds the Organizer can produce are concerned, the choices are vast. You can add a slight bit of smooth, almost reverberated sound to your signal, create sweeping, majestic organ tones, odd-sounding octave sounds and more. It boosts your original tone, plus it tracks excellently on guitar and bass, both with chords and single notes up and down the fretboard. The Organizer Polyphonic Organ Emulator seems to draw creativity out of your hands, using sustained notes and big, fat chords to accentuate your playing style and open you mind to new musical ideas and phrases.

Using a mix of analog and DSP circuitry, with true bypass switching and an all analog dry signal path, the Organizer is a sonic marvel that will change the way you approach playing the guitar…or vocals, or horns, or drums, etc. It can really play well with many, many instruments, and is an absolute blast to try and figure out, and see all the sounds that it is capable of making. EarthQuaker Devices continues to lead the way in experimental pedals, and the Organizer shows that there are no signs of them slowing down anytime soon. Make sure to head over to their site and check out all the glorious effects they have to help shape your sound!
