Caswell Modern Electronics Boost 98 Bass Drive We review a lot of pedals around here, as you may have noticed, and a lot of them have quite a learning curve to figure out all the ins-and-outs, how they work, what they’re capable of, and how to use them to fit a particular style of music. Today’s pedal is pretty much the EXACT OPPOSITE of that: a one-knob gem that has one function and does it brilliantly, with no fuss, no muss and just some straight-up great tones to use as part of your sonic arsenal. Ladies and gents, here is the Boost 98 Bass Drive from Caswell Modern Electronics.

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of reviewing Caswell Modern Electronic’s Boost 90 Clean Drive, and it was a wonderful one-knob overdrive in it’s own right, for sure! The Boost 98 Bass Drive takes those same basic principles and reworks them, focusing all its energy on boosting the low end frequencies, something that many overdrives fail to do, resulting in questionable tones and functionality. Use your volume knob to add in the right amount of crunch, or crank it and this pedal up for a full-blast, rippin’ overdrive sound that’s guaranteed to turn some heads.

Great for drop-tune players and bassists alike, the Boost 98 Bass Drive has got the low end covered, and then some. Still packing a punch and able to slice up a mix with ease, this army green bastard will get the speakers thumping in a heartbeat, and bring some real power to your rig. Thanks again to Gavin at Caswell Modern Electronics (sorry the review was a bit late!) for sending this guy our way to check out – stay tuned for more reviews of their great gear coming to our website soon!
