A while back, we reviewed a pedal from a company whose pedal designs are as unique as the graphics on their enclosures – that pedal was the Blinding VOIP! Boost from Jellyfish Electronics. Today, we’re going to take a look at one of their overdrives, the Girthquake (great names, don’t you think?) and see what it has in store for us!
The control section of the Girthquake features your basic overdrive controls: Volume, Tone and Gain. Plenty of volume at your disposal, along with a nice EQ section in the Tone knob, and clean boost to all-out rock star ranges within the Gain knob. The enclosure has a “textured stone” look and feel to it, with coats of clear gloss to make sure it will stand up to all the stomping you’ll be doing when this pedal finds it’s way onto your board.
Self-described by Jellyfish as an “MXR Distortion + mixed with the legendary Harmonic Percolator”, the Girthquake is a real rocker, make no mistake. Hand built and hand painted, with a simple control setup and great sounds pouring out, this is an excellent overdrive to add to your rig.
