Red Witch Pedals Medusa Chorus Tremolo Having access to two different pedals in the same box, and sometimes the ability to combine them together to make one super-powered effect, is one of the greatest things ever in the effects world. Today’s pedal from our friends halfway around the world, Red Witch Pedals, does exactly that, but also features a ton of options, sounds and quirks that make it a truly special modulation pedal. May we present to you the Medusa Chorus/Tremolo.

Right away, as you gaze onto the deceptively-labeled control panel of the Medusa, you realize that you should probably give the manual a glance, if not study it in-depth for a little while before diving in. The Guise knob is a three-position affair, allowing you to select Chorus, Tremolo or Chorustrem modes with which to create sounds and mystify eardrums. Velocity controls both the chorus’ speed and the rise and fall of the tremolo, depending which mode you’ve selected. Iridescence gives the chorus sound its flavor, from crisp and sharp to shimmery and subtle to lo-fi, beefy and swampy sounds. Bathos continues the chorus’ controls, affecting the depth of the effect, from a slight, subtle hint to deep and brooding.

Magnitude is a control that adjusts the depth of the tremolo effect, with the sweet spot at 12:00, squashed trem to the left and disappearing trem to the right. The Blend knob acts as a mixer between the effect and your instrument’s dry signal, adding in as much or as little as is needed for your signature sound. The lone footswitch turns the Medusa on or off, and with it’s true bypass wiring, there’s never any signal degradation or tone sucking of any kind present. One LED pulses in time with the speed you set, and it runs on a 9VDC regulated supply for easy inclusion on a pedalboard using one main power source.

The Medusa also features an expression pedal input for even more control of its parameters, as well as stereo outputs jacks for a huge, full sound when running it in a two-amp setup. As usual with their pedals, Ben and Red With have created an entirely new beast of an effect, and the ability to run to already exceptional sounds together as one powerhouse makes this a modulation fan’s dream box. Thanks so much to Red Witch Pedals for sending yet another great machine our way to check out – the demo below will give you a hint of what this puppy can do, and then you can grab one for yourself and start figuring out just how it will work for you!
