Having recently reviewed a killer fuzz from our friends over at Vick Audio, the Violet Ram’s Head, we were excited to test out another one of their fuzzy creations, as that one was just a blast to sit down and experiment with. Well, it turns out that these guys know a thing or two about fuzzes in general, and today’s pedal is yet another example of how they take the basic fuzz concept and turn it into an incredible piece of music gear. The V1 Triangle Fuzz is a musical effect, full of sustain and power, and capable of taking your dirt sounds to new levels of rage and destruction (all in a good way, promise).
The basic control setup here is Volume, Control and Sustain, which you are all probably familiar with (and, if you’re not, you should go buy this pedal and figure it out). The real key to the success of the V1 Triangle Fuzz is the lone toggle switch, which helps portion your output power in all the right ways. The early fuzzes this puppy is based on tended to lose a bit in the mid-section, being very scooped, or almost non-existent, causing the tones to become flat and useless. This toggle switch features three different mid profiles you can choose from, making it a cinch to fit in with whatever you need to make your rig bold and over-the-top.
A basic, classic fuzz with a much-needed and welcomed twist, the V1 Triangle Fuzz harkens back to the golden age of fuzz, but adds in an element of surprise that all fuzz players will welcome with open arms.
