Hungry Robot Pedals The Wash Delay ReverbIn today’s crazy world of ambient pedal obsession, there are more and more incredible machines being produced, and today’s featured piece of gear is a unique and glorious ambient player’s delight. The Wash from Hungry Robot Pedals completes the arduous task of using both delay and reverb to create an organic, below-the-mix wash of sound, while only taking up a fraction of the pedalboard space usually required to accomplish such feats. A true 2-In-1 pedal with so many sounds it’s daunting, this is an ambient musician’s dream come true.

The left side of the pedal is the Delay portion, featuring Delay Level and Delay Feedback controls to fine-tune up to 1000ms of analog-voiced delay. This pedal happens to be a fantastic-sounding delay on it’s own, but the real treats here happen when you kick in the “Wash” circuit, and let the sonic spectrum take control of your very soul (well, maybe it’s not THAT intense, but it’s close!). The “Wash” portion adds reverb to the delay signal through a complicated network of internal feedback loops and subtle, multi-head, Binson-type effects. Plus, there’s the “Ripple Effect”…

Controlled by the Ripple knob, the “Ripple Effect” slowly scatters each successive delay trail, and then transforms them into reverb….WHAT? That’s correct – be amazed, go ahead. You can also use the Resonance knob to fine-tune the decay of the washed signal, with the Wash knob acting as a Wet/Dry mix control. Along with this come the Resonance control, which lets you control how long the “Wash” decays and is present, and the actual Wash control itself, which controls the overall volume of the “Wash”, where your sound gets more ambient as this is turned up.

With the ability to create huge “washes” (see what we did there?) of sound without compromising any of your original tone’s clarity or presence, or getting too lost in a sea of sounds, The Wash stands out from so many complex delays on the market. Cheers to another marvelously-created and beautiful-sounding pedal from Hungry Robot Pedals, they’ve really been cranking out some wicked rad gear as of late (well, always, really).
