Chase Bliss Audio Brothers Analog GainstageAs if Joel Korte and the crew at Chase Bliss Audio hadn’t done enough over the last couple of years to enhance and electrify the effects pedal world, here they come again with another sick auditory creation. The Brothers™ is a Boost, Drive and Fuzz pedal, but, as they say, not necessarily in that order. Full of the patented control layout we’re all used to, plus the classic dipswitch array found on the top of all CBA effects, this is one pedal that can cover 3 sections of your rig, in one slim and sleek package.

Designed in collaboration with Resonant Electronic, this golden god is built upon two independent JFET/IC analog channels, and boasts a whooping SIX unique boost, overdrive and fuzz circuits. WOW. The Master control sets the overall output volume of the Brothers™, regardless of which effects mode you’re currently in. Gain A and Gain B channels are independently selected via two soft switches, each one having their own Tone control as well. The tone knob for channel A has an emphasis on transparency, while channel B’s emphasis is more on the midrange. There’s a toggle switch is assigned to each channel, too, letting you select between the Boost, Drive and Fuzz modes on each channel.

A Mix/Stack knob and the PARA / A>>B / B>>A toggle are only used when both channels are simultaneously active, adding another dimension to this anything-but-ordinary boost/dirt pedal. When in PARA mode, both channels are set to parallel, while the other two positions set them in series. A>>B indicates that channel A is cascaded in series into the circuit of channel B, and B>>A is vice versa. The Mix/Stack knob has a couple of uses as well: both channels are mixed 50/50 when its set at noon, with channel A becoming prominent when this knob is turned counterclockwise, and channel B when turned clockwise.

Chase Bliss Audio LogoAs with all Chase Bliss effects, you have the ability to set two presets via the toggle switch in between the foot switches. You can also control any of the parameters with an external footswitch using the Exp/CV jack, plus activate or bypass channel A with an external momentary switch or have access to MIDI capabilities as well, via the EXT(a)/MIDI jack. So many functions held inside the Brothers™, this is a manual-reader for sure, but anyone who has used Chase Bliss gear before knows that all too well. Check out the demo below for a small splattering of what this baby is capable of – cheers and thanks once again to Joel and everyone at Chase Bliss Audio for another opportunity to explore the innovative effects they continue to unleash on the world – go buy one today!
