Wrought Iron Effects Aslan (Good) OverdriveIt’s always great to randomly stumble upon a new, exciting effects pedal company, especially one that mixes in aspects of some of our favorite classic books. The Aslan Overdrive from Wrought Iron Effects gets its namesake from a lion in a treasured novel by C.S. Lewis, and brings the power that you’d expect as well.

The circuit contained within the Aslan Overdrive is filled with JFET transistors, giving it a very tube amp-like sound. Voiced to give off a lot of mid-range tones, this green beast can cut right through any mix and make you stand out against the rest of your bandmates with ease (especially those drummers). In addition to the usual Level, Tone and Gain control section, the Aslan also features a Bite control, which is a unique control to this type of pedal. In essence, you get to turn up the gain on the final stage of the circuit, really giving your overdrive a good swift kick and punch to stand out when it is need the most, or if you just want to rock out really loud and awesomely.

The top-load jacks make it easy to fit onto any pedalboard configuration, and the gorgeous design and 3D artwork will have people asking you about it after every gig. We can’t say thanks enough to Ed Chew and Wrought Iron Effects for letting us check this bad boy out – be sure to find this and their other pedals online, and keep an eye out for our review and demo of their Orchrist coming soon as well…
