Beautiful Noise Effects When The Sun Explodes Reverberation DistortionIn this current era of “space-saving pedalboard layouts,” isn’t it nice to see some oversized gear that feels no shame for its size and stature? Well, today’s pedal, When The Sun Explodes, from the masterminds down under at Beautiful Noise Effects, comes to you just ripping out of the gates, big and bold and rough all over, just waiting to get a chance to show what it can do. Which is a lot, now that you ask, so we better dive in and see what’s in store…

The upper portion of the control section is dialed in for the reverb effects. Master is an overall output control knob, while Wet/Dry blends your two signals together to taste. Colour is a tone control, going from dark and stormy to bright and glistening tones, affecting your wet signal. Decay sets the length of the reverb trails, and acts as a feedback control as well (more on that in a minute).

In Row 2, Gain starts us off, setting the amount of distortion present, with a wide range covering overdrive, fuzz and more. The Feedback section makes this pedal off the chain fun, mixing things up and keeping it interesting. The Feedback knob itself controls how much of the signal is fed back into itself, with a toggle to switch between two feedback modes. The first is a standard feedback, while the second utilizes a Tremolo LFO modulation of the feedback signal, controlled by the Rate knob.

Larger than your average pedal, but built to last and tough as nails, When The Sun Explodes will open up your creative paths and make you explore new textures and sounds for weeks, maybe months, possibly years. Cheers to Nick and the gang from Beautiful Noise Effects – this is their first pedal, so stay tuned to Pedal of the Day for more of their releases as they become available!
