Delay is probably our favorite type of effect here at Pedal of the Day, and it’s always interesting to see the different ways companies come up with to produce echo sounds. Some are straightforward, some come with 1,000 different options, and some, like the Cusack Music TME, are a nice mix of bold tones and easy controls. This blue-green little gem packs a punch into a small enclosure, sporting just 3 control knobs and one toggle, but the amount of sounds you can conjure up are vast and memorable. Let’s dive into the sonic depths and investigate this Delay Time Modulation Emulator…

Mix starts us off, blending your wet and dry signals together, as any good Mix knob does. The Feedback knob adjusts the amount of repeats you have, producing more and more as you turn it up. Around 3:00, you get into infinite repeats territory; crank it past that, and the TME turns into an oscillation machine, sending you clear into the stratosphere. Time sets the delay time, with a range of 50mS-750mS, the perfect amount for a pedal this size. You can use an external tap switch, too, via the recessed RCA jack on the side, to set the tempo with two taps, or activate the brake function, which ramps up or down the tempo.

The Modulation switch gives you 3 levels of modulation that are added to the delays: 0 (modulation is off), 1 (modulation is subtle) or 2 (modulation is strong). Going back and forth between 1 and 2 results in a slurry of different tones, especially when playing with the Feedback and Time knobs. The Delay TME is one of those pedals you might not think can do a ton, but once you plug it in, you realize just how wrong you were. There are even internal Level and Echo Tone controls you can use, to further explore and tune in just the right sound you need for your rig. Cusack Music is no stranger to the delay format, and they’ve got a bunch of other exiting pedals in their lineup as well – check out their site, and don’t forget to hear the TME in action in our demo below! Happy Saturday!
