Valeton Coral MDR Mod Delay Reverb

Do we like Modulation effects here at Pedal of the Day? Yes. What about Delay? Check. Reverb? Of course. What about all of them in one pedal, one that fits into the palm of your hand and costs less than 100 bucks? Sign us up!! Today’s pedal is all of these things and more – the CRL-1 Coral Modulation Delay Reverb from Valeton is small, affordable and boasts a slew of sounds you might not expect would fit into an enclosure this size. Once again, we have an effect unit that proves you don’t have to be expensive to sound like you are…

The Coral MDR features 16 carefully selected algorithms packed into a heavy duty aluminum die cast casing, built to stand all the stomps and wear & tear you can muster. The digital circuit design isn’t super-cold like some can be, giving a bit of warmth and analog flavor to each different mode. The Mix, Depth/FB Time and X/Y controls adjust different parameters, depending on which mode you’re in, like Volume, Speed, Feedback, Tone, Resonance, Filter, Delay Time, Brightness and much, much more. The modes available are Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Tremolo, Delay, Reverb, Air and Ambient, each with 2 differing groups, A and B, which are selected by the on-board A/B push button.

You can hold down the Bypass switch to enter into Tap Tempo mode seamlessly, enabling you to set the tempo hands-free at a moment’s notice. You can also turn the delay trail on or off by holding the Bypass switch while powering up the pedal, letting you choose how you’d like this little masterpiece to perform. An excellent option for sonic experimenters and ambient noise lovers, the Coral MDR creates high-quality sounds on an anyone-can-afford-it budget, opening up possibilities to many who might not be able to afford the latest “cream of the crop” effects pedals. Cheers to the Valeton crew for jamming this much into such a tiny pedal, for making the price point perfect and for keeping the effects sounding great. This is our first foray into this lineup of pedals, but rest assured, there will be more to come.
