Spaceman Effects Nebula Fuzz Octave Blender

The clean look, perfectionist wiring and incredible noises that come out of anything that Spaceman Effects creates have always been most welcome here at Pedal of the Day. Beginning with our search for the Aphelion and continuing over the last 5 years to try and get our hands on as many of their limited release pedals as we can has been challenging, but in the very best of ways. We have another one of their lovely effects for you this evening, the somewhat wacky and definitely fun Nebula, a Fuzz/Octave Blender that will absolutely rock your world.

As always, the control section features an eclectic group of names for the knobs you use to manipulate the Nebula. Volume obviously sets your overall output amount, and the Clean/Effect blending knob is fairly easy to decipher, but then it gets into typical Spaceman territory. Density blends the clean octave up with the fuzz signal, Emission controls the amount of gain present in the fuzz circuit and Spectrum is a three-shape control that allows you to fine-tune your tone to perfection.

There are a couple of toggle switches to add to the fun here as well. On the left side, you have three EQ options to choose from: Flat, Mid Scooped or High Boost, for all your tonal shaping needs. On the right, Infinity Mode adds a second octave to the mix, one that’s shrouded in fuzz. With the Emission knob cranked, the fuzz-octave collapses on itself and adds a ton of sustain into the mix, for soaring lead tones and fast note runs.

All of these options not only make the Nebula a killer effect for your guitar, but allow some experimentation in the bass and synthesizer fields as well. And, of course, each pedal is individually numbered with a hand-hammered nameplate, stating the number and availability of each model. Hand-soldered and handmade to the highest degree of quality possible, each pedal also uses Switchcraft jacks, detailed military-spec wiring, engraved faceplate and signature jewel indicator light. If you’d like to hear this impressive beast in action, just check out our ripping demo video below – then maybe, just maybe, you’ll understand why Spaceman Effects are so highly collectable and sought-after.
