Surfy Industries SurfyVibe Vibrato Phaser Chorus Tremolo

The pulsing, audio ebb-and-flowing, peaks and valleys sounds of Vibrato are some of our favorites in the world. Whether it’s coming from a modern day effects pedal or from the circuit of a vintage amplifier, it’s hard to beat adding that type of effect into any signal chain and being the least bit disappointed. Today’s pedal, the SurfyVibe from Surfy Industries, brings a vintage sound into our modern world, keeping it simple yet powerful at the same time.

Based on the wobbly sounds of vintage Magnatone amps, specifically the Magnatone 280’s mono channel, the SurfyVibe’s sound harkens back to classic recordings from decades past. Using jFET transistors in place of tubes and special diode arrays in place of the Varistor component the old Magnatones used, the original circuit is emulated beautifully. The Intensity and Speed controls set the presence and rate of the effect, and the mode toggle gives you a couple of options as well. “Sweeping” mode adds a feedback path to create a unique effect that is a mix of phaser, chorus and tremolo, while “Vibrato” mode gives you all the classic wobbles and pulses you can handle.

Looking for a mix of surf rock, with a tinge of Pink Floyd and a little Credence for good measure, and then go visit Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? The SurfyVibe has got all your bases covered, in one pedalboard-friendly enclosure that doesn’t require a degree in physics to figure out. We run through a TON of different settings in our demo video below, so be sure to stick around for the whole thing to hear the SurfyVibe in all its modulated glory. Cheers on an absolutely fantastic vibe pedal to the crew at Surfy Industries – we’ll have more gear of theirs coming soon, so check back for that and be sure to pop over to their website to see their lineup of effects!
