Rainger FX Drone Rainger Digital Delay

We’ve been wanting to get our hands on some effects from Rainger FX for a while now, so we’re super-stoked to bring you today’s Pedal of the Day. Combining a powerful delay with a wicked drone, the Rainger FX Drone Rainger Digital Delay looks AND sounds extremely unique, and was an absolute blast to explore. As you can see, there are lots of buttons, switches and options crammed into this one, so let’s get started!

Starting off with the delay section itself, you’ve got a simple row of controls to use to set up your core sound. Level, Rate (delay time, max of about a second), Repeat and Volume give you a nice base to start working with, and then you build and add on from there. The “In” section gives you Guitar and Drone controls, allowing you to individually set the input levels of each. Speaking of the drone, there are 2 separate Pitch controls at your disposal here: Pitch 1 is a 12-way selector switch, while Pitch 2 is a free-moving dial. When they’re tuned nearly the same, you get interesting ‘beats’ created between the two of them. Use the Mix knob here to blend these two wild signals to taste.

There’s a small Fine Tune knob as well, which allows you to tune the pedal to the pitch of the music you’re playing along to, with noon being the closest to concert pitch. Two push buttons are hidden up near the top right as well – the first, Dry Guitar, turns the delay completely off, if you so desire. The second, Interfere Pitch Up gives you the choice between an overall tone down drop-and-rise, or a Pitch 2-only rise-and-fall. These are both controlled by the left Momentary switch, Interfere, while the Mix/Pitch 2 switch toggles between where the Mix knob is set and Pitch 2 on its own.

Basically, there’s a lot going on here, but once you sit down and start diving in, the sonic possibilities presented to you are vast and magnificent. The Rainger FX Drone Rainger Digital Delay sounds great as just a beautiful delay, but the ability to add in the drone sounds and manipulate them with both your fingers and your feet is where it really shines. This is our first foray into the wild world of Rainger FX, and we can’t wait to bring more of their effects to you all.
