MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay

If you haven’t heard, played or owned the Carbon Copy Analog Delay from Jim Dunlop and MXR, you’re one of few. This thing burst onto the effects pedal scene almost a decade ago, and has continued to top the lists of modern analog delays around the world. Simple to use, with great tones and warm modulation, it embodies everything we love about old echo units. But, as perfect as this delay is, there’s always room for improvement: presenting the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay.

Building on that wonderfully analog foundation, the Carbon Copy Deluxe takes the original and makes it better, adding in some options that everyone will be sure to enjoy. Along with the Mix, Regen and Delay controls from regular version, the Deluxe features Speed and Width controls, to adjust the added modulation to perfectly fit your rig or musical style. Use the Mod button to toggle this modulation on or off, and hit the Bright button to accentuate the high-end frequencies of the delay signal. The Deluxe also features Tap Tempo (probably the main thing everyone wanted that was missing about the original), along with a Tap Div switch for 4 different delay subdivision choices: dotted eighths, eighths, triplets and sixteenths.

The delay time is extended on the Carbon Copy Deluxe, too, now up to 1.2 seconds. Inside, you can select Line Level or Instrument functionality, to run it in front of your amp, or in the FX loop, and there’s even a Dry Kill switch that produces a wet-only effect. An added Exp jack also lets you control various functions hands-free, including the Bright, Tap Div and Mod buttons, toggling between two settings, tap tempo and more. The MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay builds on a classic, offering more delay time, options and functionality, all while retaining the warm sounds the is famous for.
