While the Camper Fuzz from CroyTone Audio focused on the fuzzy side of things, today’s pedal takes a crack at the distortion market, and does so with blistering abandon. The Metal Shock’s name alone should give you a clue as to what it can do – this is a modern, high-gain distortion pedal that is just quivering with the possibility to destroy your amp and the eardrums of anyone within 5 city blocks. Coming to us all the way from Indonesia, this silver gem from ADAG AUDIO is a thundering example of how a distortion pedal should sound….
The control portion of the Metal Shock looks fairly straightforward, there are a lot of subtle differences packed in throughout the pedal. Volume sets your output level, and Gain slowly dials in more and more distortion as you turn it clockwise. The real key to the success of this pedal, however, is the 3-band EQ section. With just your basic Treble, Mid and Bass parameters, there are so many different settings to be explored and discovered here, producing a wide spectrum of sounds that you might not normally expect from a high-gain effects unit.
Apparently, the folks in Indonesia know how to rock, ’cause this thing is a true beast of a distortion! The warm characteristics and broad tonal range make this gem an instantly classic addition to any pedalboard, studio rig or practice space, and will grab your amp by the Misters and shake things until shingles start falling off your roof and the neighbors are calling the police.
