The Danelectro Cool Cat Stereo Chorus and Dan-Echo Delay Echo are two of the coolest pedals that have ever existed, right? That said, today’s pedal is often in any conversation involving those two as well, as they all come from the same classic lineup. The Daddy O DO-1 Overdrive doesn’t just have a rad-sounding name – it has a ton of rad-sounding sounds inside, as well…
The Danelectro Daddy-O is an overdrive pedal that emulates classic tube-amp distortion. You get the standard Volume and O Drive controls, along with individual attenuation of the Bass, Middle and Treble frequencies. This creates an unusually high degree of tone shaping, letting you conjure up a variety of vintage overdrives, including British Stacks, Texas Blues and even some higher gain tones with ease. The wide range on these controls really opens up new sonic possibilities, providing an immense sonic palette from which you are able to sculpt and craft your own unique sound.
As with the rest of these late-90’s Danelectro stompboxes, the Daddy O Overdrive is big, bold and built like an absolute tank. If you have the pedalboard real estate, I highly recommend picking up ALL THREE of these wonderful machines – just this Danelectro trio on a pedalboard can get you almost all the way to where you need to sound for any gig, and at extremely affordable prices. Be sure to check out our reviews for the Cool Cat and Dan-Echo, too, and don’t skip out on our Daddy O demo below – cheers!!
