Glitchy and granular types of synth delay pedals have really made a name for themselves over the last couple years, and we’ve got one of the best yet for you today. No strangers to the weird and unconventional, Pladask Elektrisk has come up with the third pedal in an odd trilogy of effects – the Baklengs Granular Synth Glitch Delay. Taking after its brothers Bakvendt and Bakfram, this glorious noise machine has modulation, looping, robots, outer space and more trapped inside…
Baklengs can do a lot, such as delay stuff, timestretch stuff, shuffle stuff, freeze stuff, pitch stuff upwards & downwards, fold back on itself through feedback and generally make lots of gnarly noises. If you’re on the prowl for a delay that’s just gonna “add a little color” to your original tone, you better run away from this machine as fast as you can. However, for those of us who thrive on experimentation, this is an absolute dream.
The demo video we put together below runs through all of the controls extensively. There’s a lot of randomness at play here, along with non-destructive feedback, sampling, frozen audio, granulation and modulation, reverse delays and much, much more. The toggle switches in particular play an important role is the creation and destruction of the notes you play, in the absolute best of ways.
After having the opportunity to demo their Tåken, Fabrikat and Draume pedals already, we were so stoked to have another piece of Pladask Elektrisk gear in our hands, and it, as always, didn’t disappoint in the slightest. Although these effects are only made in small batches and only released periodically throughout the year, they’ve become some of our favorites, as they have for many others around the world. Cheers once again to Knut Olai and the entire Pladask team on the wonderful Baklengs – be sure to visit their website for more info, and don’t skip out on the demo below!
