One of the most talked-about pedals of the last few weeks has most certainly been the Brothers AM Dual Overdrive Distortion Boost, a collaboration between Chase Bliss and Analog Man. Five-plus years in the making, this new release brings all the classic sounds and functionality of Analog Man’s King of Tone to the table, and adds more to this already amazing and revered circuit. In their usual fashion, Chase Bliss takes everything and pushes it up a couple notches, creating an awe-inspiring and limit-pushing machine that will have you on the edge of your creative seat…
Made in collaboration with Analog Man himself, Brothers AM is a tribute to the legendary King of Tone Overdrive. It takes that coveted circuit, gives you advanced control, and tosses in a couple exciting bonuses – but it doesn’t mess with what made it so good in the first place. At its heart are two identical, multi-mode gain channels for you to stack, combine, and switch. Choose between Boost, Overdrive or Distortion, then set the gain, set the tone. Brothers AM also features a bonus circuit: A treble booster, inspired by the Beano Boost by Analog Man. Push your amp to new heights, enjoy biting textures that will cut through any mix, and explore the perks of stacking 3 circuits at once. Brash, bright, and charged. A stack of sunny saturation that always manages to sound just right. Done.
Analog Man’s level of hand-made care has been unmatched and unchanged since the 90’s. There’s no replicating it – each King of Tone is made entirely by hand with near-unobtainable parts. So instead of trying to clone it, Brothers AM goes further. Chase Bliss worked closely with Analog Man to create an expanded counterpart that lets you enjoy the coveted circuit in a new way:
Change modes on the fly
Access previously hidden parameters
Explore a bonus treble booster circuit
Control everything externally (expression, MIDI, CV)
All entirely preset saveable.
The modes, hidden settings, and pre-set options from the KoT are available here as adjustable controls that can be changed on-the-fly. Tinker and refine freely, and find just the sound you’re looking for. Brothers AM includes a few refinements that we found handy. Turn the second volume knob into a master volume, link presence and tone together, and control every aspect of the pedal externally – if you wish.
Also included is an additional bank of presets on Brothers AM for a total of 4 internal sounds, enough to round out a full set. The pedal ships with CB’s favorites, including a re-creation of Analog Man’s own preferred settings. In every mode, and every setting, it just sounds good. In the demo below, we dive into some amazing settings, play with the dipswitches and see just what this purple beauty has in store. Chase Bliss has stretched the boundaries of what’s possible once more – be sure to head to their website to snag a Brothers AM for yourself NOW!!
