Sometimes, the pedal you need on your board doesn’t actually make any kind of noise or effect – such is the case with today’s pedal, the Yesterday Effects Color Theory All-Analog Parallel Processor & Signal Router. While big whooshing modulation, bold distortion or vintage tape delay sounds are not on the menu, this little box opens up your creativity, and lets you choose how to route your signals and sounds. One knob, one switch, lots of inputs and outputs…there’s a lot going on in this seemingly simple piece of gear.
The Color Theory is an all-analog parallel processor available in eight different colors. It allows for two send/return loops to be mixed in parallel with an added phase inversion switch. With Color Theory, pedal combinations become primary, secondary, and tertiary shades of sound. This unit takes the concept of parallel processing and invites you to explore a new spectrum of tonal possibilities.
In our demo below, we showcase several of the options the Color Theory provides, including mixing pedals in parallel, running two amps from the same input source, “Stereolizing” a mono signal, replicating layered studio tracks and more. Using gear from Harby Pedals, Browne Amplification, Keeley Electronics, EarthQuaker Devices, Death By Audio, plus Friedman and REVV Amps, it was a blast to discover just some of the applications this pedal provides. Be sure to head over to the Yesterday Effects website to grab a Color Theory All-Analog Parallel Processor & Signal Router for yourself – this one is a real gamechanger!!
