Night Owl Industries FMJ Amplifier

It’s been a minute since we had anything from Night Owl Industries in the shop, but I’m excited to bring you all their latest release today! Not a pedal, but most definitely pedal-related, the FMJ Amplifier provides gorgeous clean tones to use as the basis for your rig, designed for players who like to get drive and distortion from their pedalboard. With an simple control layout, small size and big tones, this guitar amp will quickly become your newest best musical friend…

Introducing the FMJ Amplifier, Night Owl’s first production amplifier in 7 years and the culmination of their efforts as a company. Built on their power amp enclosure, the FMJ Amplifier adds a high voltage, clean biased EF86 preamp section that provides the perfect complement to the Class A EL84 power amp. The FMJ is a clean format design, made for those who get their distortion and effects from their pedals. The pristine, vivid clean tones it is capable of producing will make all of your instruments and effects pedals come to life in a brand new way. Standing less than 4 inches high and 8 inches wide, the FMJ is a little powerhouse, packing 5.7 watts Class A of all pentode tube glory, plenty for recording, practice, or even garage band jamming.

The front panel features a mono input jack, Tone and Volume controls, and an indicator light. Although designed as a clean format amplifier, the volume control is placed after the preamp, allowing you to distort the preamp and still keep the power amp clean, or crank the volume and overdrive both if desired. It sounds great with an Edison Pre! The name stems from the new approach on design; instead of the components sticking out of an enclosure and requiring an outer shell, they are covered in the “full metal jacket” of the enclosure. To complete the theme, six chevrons are machined into the lid, which features a Golden Hemlock powder coat to match the custom knobs by Haramis Musical Hardware.

The first batch of FMJ Amplifiers will be limited to 24 units and available only on the Night Owl Industries website for $649. All pre-orders qualify for free shipping and tax included for all mainland US customers. Pre-Order begins at 8pm Eastern on 8/17/25, and all units will ship by 10/1/2025. This little guy packs a big punch, and seeing as we LOVE pedals around here, it’s a perfect fit in the Pedal of the Day world.
