It’s time to explore another new (to us) pedal company today, and their first effects unit is a sign of amazing things to come. Monger Pedals‘ The Little Guy Fuzz-Phaser combines a 2-stage OTA phaser with waveform shaping (triangle, upward sawtooth, downward sawtooth) with an op-amp fuzz with hard clipping character, for an exploratory unit that will take you on a wild, experimental sonic journey through space and time. There’s a lot going on with this big beast of a pedal – let’s dive right in!!
Don’t be fooled by the name. The Little Guy isn’t so little when it comes to sound. This dual-effect powerhouse combines a versatile OTA-based phaser with a crushing op-amp fuzz, giving you everything from subtle movement to chaotic walls of texture. On the phaser side, The Little Guy can drift with slow, sweeping modulation or dive headfirst into warped, wonky movement. With selectable LFO waveforms (triangle, upward sawtooth, downward sawtooth) and full control over speed, width, range, and feedback, it’s a phaser built for sculpting motion, not just adding swirl.
The fuzz circuit delivers snarling character with surprising dynamics. It cleans up beautifully with your guitar’s volume knob but still packs enough headroom to shift from gritty drive, to ripping distortion, to thick, saturated fuzz — all with a single knob sweep. The Phaser side features an extensive control section, including Width, Speed, Shape, Range and Regen, and the Fuzz side’s basic controls have a nice wide range, producing oooey-gooey fuzzed-out deliciousness. And thanks to a built-in Send & Return loop, The Little Guy drops into your rig seamlessly, letting you place other pedals between its fuzz and phaser stages without sacrificing your core signal.
The Little Guy Fuzz-Phaser‘s sound is massive — a swirling, growling, hand-built beast ready for anything from subtle textures to sonic overload. The tones coming out of this one are nothing short of incredible, and it’s easy to get lost for a couple of hours without even blinking, delving into all that it can do. Thanks to Monger Pedals for sending this one our way – can’t wait to check out some more of their effects in the near future! Head to their website for more info and ordering, and don’t forget to head to YT for your demo video – cheers!!
