New pedals from new (to me) companies are always intriguing, as you get to see different designs and innovations along the way. Today’s pedal, the monochrome fuzz one Germanium/Silicon Analogue Fuzz, comes to us all the way from the Ligurian Alps in Italy, and I for one am glad it made the trek to get here. Three knobs and two switches might not seem like too much to work with, but trust me, there are PLENTY of amazing sounds just itching to pour out of this clean, crisp enclosure…
Built entirely by hand, fuzz one is an analogue fuzz designed to live between drive and collapse. It stays raw yet articulate, open and touch-sensitive, reacting to every nuance of your playing. Two clipping modes define its voice: germanium for warmth and smooth compression, silicon for clarity and attack. The Weight control shapes the low end from lean to heavy, while bright / dark refines the top end to your rig and room.
From gritty overdrive to full, saturated fuzz, it remains clear and musical. Never shrill, never muddy. The fuzz one responds to your guitar’s volume and dynamics, cutting through effects chains with definition and texture. Each unit is built and tested one at a time, with attention to sound and feel. Every component is chosen for reliability, consistency, and sound. For best performance, use an isolated 9v dc supply and place it early in your signal chain. This matte-white edition features zen-inspired artwork, and each unit is signed and numbered inside the enclosure.
Fuzz pedals can be temperamental, finicky and down right frustrating at times – that is most definitely NOT the case with the fuzz one Analogue Fuzz. Whether you lean more towards germanium options for your fuzz, of dig the sounds produced by silicon diodes more, there’s something for everyone lurking in this deceivingly tame beast of an effect. Be sure to head to the monochrome website to order one of these (available in several different variants) amazing creations for yourself…right after you give it a good listen via our demo video on YouTube, of course – cheers!!
