The crew at Collision Devices have been putting out innovative, unique effects units since they first came on the scene, and I’m excited to bring you not one, not two, but THREE of their latest offerings. The Snack Series are designed to be fun and useful, while also being accessible and extremely pedalboard-friendly. The first releases in this series are the Fuzz, Pitcher and Delay pedals – there’s lots to talk about with these, let’s dive right in!
The Snack Series Fuzz is a distortion & fuzz pedal with three distinct modes. Soft mode gives you an analog style saturation with a filter – a slight flutter can be added on the top of it to enhance its character. Mid mode provides dephased parallel fuzzes where you can control the phases of both, easily accessing every style of digital fuzz. Hard mode finds an aggressive fuzz with a filter. This is a gated chainsaw. Your signal has never been this square.
The Snack Series Pitcher is a wild pitch shifting pedal with three unique modes. Oct mode gives you access to a +1 /-1 octaver with a filter and envelope control. Shift mode features a pitch shifter going from -4oct to +3oct, with many more possibilities. Use its LFO or plug your expression to do whammy tricks. Arp mode is a pitch sequencer, creating pattern with the pitch shifting and rate of your choice. Build your own synth.
The Snack Series Delay gives you three delay modes, but these are anything but normal. Tape mode is an analog style tape delay with its modulation – there’s a lot of range here. Crush gives you a digital delay & sample rate reducer. Take your first step into the Crushturnal world with its sequencer. Finally, Glitch mode provides a glitchy delay with pitch shifting in its feedback loop. Weird stutters, destructured ambiences – do whatever you want, you will always sound original.
All three of these pedals sound amazing on their own, but the sound grows even bigger and more experimental when you combine them. In our lengthy demo, we run through each pedal, each mode and each parameter, showing you a hint of what these marvelous creations are capable of. Exploration is the name of the game here, kiddos – these units are made for all the knob-turners and quirky music makers out there. Check out the Collision Devices website for more info and ordering for the Snack Series Fuzz, Pitcher and Delay pedals – cheers!!
