Bananana Effects ABRACADABRA Shimmer Reverb

I’ve been having so much fun checking out the effects lineup from Bananana Effects, and today’s pedal from them is a real sonic stroke of genius. The ABRACADABRA Shimmer Reverb is an astounding and groundbreaking reverb unit with eight built-in modes that are completely incapable of producing natural reverberation…in the best of ways. There are a LOT of sounds trapped in this mini pedal, just waiting to get out – let’s see what it can do…

Taking unrealistic reverberation as its concept, however, it has been born as a reverb like none ever heard before, with an infusion of specialized technologies that take it completely beyond the realm of reverb pedal. Tuned for instruments including strings, percussion, keyboards, and some ethnic musical instruments, this pedal packs astounding individuality on par with those excellent instruments into one instrument. The 8 modes here offer a wide range of sounds, from octaves to filters to delays to noise creation and more.

Exotic Oct Up
Combines complex harmonics and envelope filters with a sound one octave above the input sound to create an otherworldly reverb sound.

Exotic 5th
Combines complex harmonics and envelope filters with a sound 5th above the input sound to create an unreal reverb sound.

Oct Up + Vib
A mode that can mix the input sound and the octave above it pre-reverb, and apply wide-range vibrato post-reverb. This enables a wide spectrum of sound creation, from natural reverb to psychedelic tones and Mellotron-like tones.

Shimmer + 5th + Vib
A mode that can mix sound 5th above the input sound with a shimmer reverb, and apply wide-range vibrato post-reverb. A guitar synthesizer-like tone are possible in some setting.

Inf + Cho + Oct Up
When turned on, holds input sound that was played just before engaged. The hold sound can be mixed with the input sound and sound one octave higher; chorus can further be added.

When turned on, holds input sound that was played just before engaged. The hold sound can be mixed with the input sound and sound one octave lower; chorus can further be added.

Error Delay
Delay and double-speed reverse delay, each with separately adjustable time, are sounded simultaneously. By further returning feedback to each other’s inputs, complex glitch delay sounds can be created.

SH + Noise
An ambient reverb that can mix input sound with white noise, with randomly filtered sound further mixed in. It creates a more otherworldly tone by cutting dry noise.
