Submarine SubPro String Isolation Pickup 1

When I took a look at the first Submarine pickup 5 years ago, I loved what a cool, unique device it was, and knew it was the beginning of something much bigger. The original isolated just three strings at once, but the SubPro pickup, which we’re going to look at today, gives you access to all 6 strings on your guitar, along with routing options for each string. Building on an already innovative piece of gear, SubPro opens up new and exciting possibilities for recording and live shows alike…

Six small switches on the back of the SubPro act as controls for the six string on your guitar – you can send each string to the left output, the right output, or turn individual strings off completely. For the demo I did, I’m running the stereo output cable to a Fulltone Supa-Trem, a Walrus Audio Meraki Analog Delay and a Death By Audio ROOMS Reverberator, all stereo pedals. The first part of the demo alternates the strings from top to bottom, panning one left, one right and so on. The second part of the demo sees the top three strings panned one way and the bottom three panned the other way, creating big, open soundscapes that will put a big smile on your face.

  • Isolate individual strings or groups of strings
  • Single output adaptor cable is supplied as standard. Additional cables can be purchased at any time to upgrade to maximum four outputs.
  • Attaches in seconds
  • No drilling, routing, soldering or damage to your guitar
  • Hand polished, chrome plated die cast housing
  • For use with acoustic or electric guitars
  • Backed by a 1 year warranty
  • Assembled in the UK

Submarine SubPro String Isolation Pickup 3

Having so far just used the SubPro String Isolation Pickup for the demo, I am super stoked to dive in some more, and see how it can play with other effects – I’m thinking Octave, Phaser, maybe something weird, who knows? The sky’s the limit here, and I’m convinced this can be a magical tool in the studio (and live, if you’ve got the gear for it!). I love how it sounds mixed with the signal from the Jazzmaster, too – I tune it down a half-step, and adding some effeects over top of the clean tone in unique ways is a real gamechanger. Thanks to Pete, Alex and the Submarine crew for sending this awesome pickup my way to check out – be sure to check out our demo, then head to the Submarine website to grab a SubPro today!!
