LongAmp Deluxe Time Machine DelayContinuing our recent trend of some amazing tape delay echo machines, we’ve got another brilliant pedal for you today. The Deluxe Tape Machine Delay from LongAmp not only re-creates some fantastic sounds from the delay-filled 70’s, but does so while offering THREE distinct options, emulating the best tones from three of the most revered and classic delays ever made. Influenced by the Binson Echorec, Roland RE-201 Space Echo and Maestro Echoplex EP-3, this silver gem will surely find its way into your heart and onto your pedalboard.

Painstakingly created and influenced directly by tape echoes of the past, the Deluxe Time Machine immediately lives up to its name as soon as you engage the bypass switch. The Binson mode combines the repeats from Delay 1 & 2 in serial, with the subsequent repeats coming from Delay 2 only, giving you an ambient, reverb-type of echo sound. 1200ms of delay are available when both Delays are maxed, and will produce some nice slap back effects when the levels are decreased.

In RE-201 mode, both delays are run in parallel, which creates a more rhythmic pattern as you adjusts the differing parameters. These Space Echo tones have a reverb-esque quality to them as well, washing haunting and beautiful sonic soundscapes over your tone. Finally, the Echoplex mode uses just the Delay 2 knob, reproducing one tape delay “head” echoes with a shorter range, from 30ms up to about 600ms.

A toggle switch lets you add modulation onto either Delay 1 or 2, or have it completely off in the middle position. This warbly effect is controlled via the Speed and Depth controls, letting you conjure up as little or as much tape flutter as you need, and sounding different with each individual mode. There’s a second footswitch here, too, a momentary switch that ramps up the delay time of Delay 2 when pressed down, and slows it back down when released, for even more auditory investigation.

LongAmp LogoWhew! All this in an enclosure this size? You’d have to lug around three different huge padded cases, each containing one of the original three units, to get these types of sounds on stage otherwise, not to mention the repair and hassle that comes along with them. We’ll stick to this silver beauty coming out of Wroclaw, Poland, thank you very much. Speaking of that, cheers again to our friend Tomasz from LongAmp for another incredible effect pedal – be sure to check out his Reverb.com shop to see all the creations he’s unleashing, and don’t forget to check out how the Deluxe Time Machine sounds by watching the video below.
