The crew at Big Joe Stomp Box Company has been making solid, great-sounding and easy-to-use effects for a while now, and we’ve had the pleasure to be able to review and demo many of them for you. Today’s is high up on our list of their pedals, for sure, as we are suckers for anything flanger-related, and the B-306 Analog Flange doesn’t disappoint. Boasting a HUGE range of flanger tones, and all the jet engine screech and swoosh you can handle, this is one excellent modulation addition to your pedalboard.
As with a lot of Big Joe’s pedals, there are just three knobs you have to worry about to get incredible sounds. Speed sets the rate of the flange effect, while Depth sets how present or intense it is in your signal chain. Regen rounds out these 3 knobs, adjusting the amount of the signal that gets fed back into itself, making the flanger sounds more pronounced and noticeable. Each of these controls has an excellent spectrum to sweep, making the B-306 a perfect subtle addition to any tone, but also with the ability to really get some far-out, psychedelic swirls going if you so choose.
Built like a tank, with a bright orange paint job so you’ll never miss it on a dimly lit stage at your local watering hole, the B-306 Analog Flange gives you everything you’d expect from a flanger, but in a neat and tidy package. Flanger isn’t the effect for everyone, but if you do like it, be sure to give this one a go-round.
