While on tour in Australia, I had a day off in Brisbane. I already knew what that day would consist of: TYM’s Guitar Shop and nothing else! As usual, a lot of his pedal line was sold out. Bummed out that I couldn’t try his Ramshead clone, I decided to give the Reverse Big Mudd a try. I am very glad I did!

This model is based on the rare ‘Reverse Graphic’ V6 model. Having owned a few V6 models in the past, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away… but I was! This thing has more upper mids than any Big Muff I’ve tried. I’ve got a great sounding vintage 1973 EH Ramshead and I was sure it couldn’t be beat… but I think I prefer the Tym! I can get a thicker lead tone out of it and it doesn’t get lost in the mix like most Muffs. It also has lots of gain but retains a clarity that is so rare in these. It also seems to stack well with other pedals, especially placed just before my Klon KTR. The Tym is on my board and will probably be there for a long time.
