Granted, while they do enhance your tone and give you amp a little kick where it needs one, mainly they just Boost, Boost, Boost. They can get your tone to that “just about break-up amp” sound, but what if you wanted (or needed) just a little bit more? Well, my buddy Nick and his cohorts over at Greer Amps decided that enough was enough, and they created a sort of hybrid Boost/Drive pedal, with smashing results.

The Pork N Beans is basically a 2-In-1 pedal, being a Boost and a Drive as well, but it’s so subtle yet so powerful, it’s really hard to say which category it fits into better. Based on the classic Rangemaster Treble Booster, the Pork N Beans utilizes an AC128 Germanium transistor in its guts, and is hand-wired using only the finest quality components around. The setup is REAL simple: one knob that controls the output level, and one toggle switch to flip-flop between Beans (boost) and Pork (drive). That being said, you really have to hear this pedal in action to understand what it can do.

The Beans boost section is fabulous, more of just a straight Treble boost-type of sound, but can get your tone sounding INCREDIBLE. The Pork section has more of a Mid-Boost functionality, giving your tone a little grit, a little dirt, a little punch that it’s been craving. Both of these sections of the pedal can do wonders for a dead, flat-sounding guitar and/or amp, and will really rock your world if you already have a tube amp and a gitbox with halfway decent pickups!

Not trying to be flashy or over-the-top, the Pork N Beans Boost is just that, plus a lot more. If you’ve ever played or heard any other Greer Amps‘ pedals, you know the quality and craftsmanship you’re in for regardless. But if you want something special that adds just that little bit of something you’ve been missing, maybe, just maybe, you should throw the Pork N Beans into the mix and see what happens…
